Continuing with our deck building how-to, in this video we have
- dug and placed the concrete pyramid blocks,
- laid down yard cloth and gravel to keep weeds from growing up under the deck,
- installed pressure-treated 2 x 8 against the house from which the joists were to be hung,
- and run pressure-treated 2x8s along the length of the middle of the deck to rest the joists on.
The key is to make sure those corners are square. To do this, run your tape measure diagonally from corner to corner, then do the same for the other diagonal. Adjust them until they measure out at the same distance. Once it’s square, you really can’t go wrong.
